Internet Explorer 7 Web Development Tools

Windows Internet Explorer 7 was released in 2006, and it was part of the Windows Vista and Server 2008 package. It followed up Internet Explorer 6, which was part of the Windows XP and Server 2003 package. As of 2010, the latest version of Internet Explorer is Internet Explorer 8. Internet Explorer development tools allow you to create and debug web pages and HTML (HyperText Markup Language) content and scripts (written commands that allow you to automate how you send and/or receive information from your computer or other computers).

Fiddler

This tool is compatible with all versions of Internet Explorer, Opera and Mozilla Firefox, and it is also compatible with the .NET language. Fiddler is a freeware program that allows you to log and debug the HTTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol) or HTTPS (HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure) traffic that travels between your computer and the Internet. You can set up the program so that it breaks up data at certain intervals, and you can also manipulate both incoming and outgoing information. Other features of this program include an event based scripting (creating script using events) system. Freeware refers to any program that you can download, use and share without ever having to pay a licensing fee.

Ajax View

Ajax View allows you to see what your web application will look like on client computers. Ajax (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) is a programming technique used to create web applications. This tool allows you to insert profiling code (obtains information about the performance of the application, which helps you better optimize the program) into your applications, and it can also figure out where problems are occurring. This will provide you contextual information about where errors or failures are occurring. This is a free program, and it is also available as a Power Tool within the Microsoft Visual Studio AJAX Profiling Extensions.

Developer Tool

The Internet Explorer Developer Toolbar is a free tool from Microsoft, and it is compatible with Windows Server 2003, XP and Vista. This tool allows you to generate web pages, and you can also change or view the web page's DOM (document object model). The DOM allows objects to be viewed and interacted with in XML (eXtensible Markup Language), XHTML (eXtensible HyperText Markup Language) and HTML documents, including web pages. Other features of this tool include the ability to manipulate Internet Explorer settings, and you can change the resolution of the browser window.
